140 teachers from Khmelnytsiy, Ternopil and Ivano-Frankivsk region attended three-day event organized by Without Borders: Sustaining and Supporting Inclusive Learning Community, NGO Step into Life, Department for Education and Science of Khmelnytskiy city council, Khmelnytskiy Regional institute of Postgraduate Pedagogical Studies, Khmelnytskiy lyceum №15, Khmelnitskiy specialized secondary school №8 and supported by the Public Affairs Section of the U.S. Embassy in Ukraine.
Teachers from Vygoda Teaching and Rehabilitation Center, Terebovlya teaching and education center, Kamyanets-Podilskiy special school, Ivano-Frankivsk college and Precarpathian national university, educators and school management of public and private teaching institutions of Khmelnytsiy, New Ukrainian School trainers, representatives of Khmelnytskiy local and regional state administrations, parents and students studied and shared experience of positive practices in inclusion: support of students with SEN, effective cooperation with a teaching assistant, , art-therapy, co-teaching, ICT and distance-learning in inclusion, skills development and positive behavior intervention, emotional regulation, socialization of students, partnership pedagogy, management of learning environment, integration techniques, storytelling, UDL, transition programs, multidisciplinary team functioning.
The education event proved the effectiveness of cooperation in grass-root inclusive learning communities and set demand for common strategies of development and education initiatives. Establishment of West Ukraine inclusive education cluster, in partnership with National Consortium on Inclusive Education is another achievement of Without Borders: Sustaining and Supporting Inclusive Learning Community in Ukraine
